Gipsy Moth was first sailed solo around the world in 1966 by Sir Francis Drake. On her second circumnavigation, Gipsy Moth went ashore on a reef en route to Tahiti, March 2006. The boat was salvaged and shipped to NZ. The vessel was repaired in Team New Zealand’s shed over an aggressive 2 week period by Brin Wilson Boat Builders.
Princess Anne arrived to see the vessel relaunched and to personally thank all involved on the project.
